Our portfolio ranges from no-frills 20' to spacious 45' containers, versatile multi-door variants in 20' and 40', practical mini-containers from 6' to 10', through to refrigerated containers for temperature-sensitive cargo.

Smallest container (6'): 1.96 m × 1.83 m.
Pallet width version: 2.5 m instead of 2.438 m wide.
Multi-door container: access from several sides.
Refrigerated containers: for temperature-sensitive stored goods.

Standard container

No global trade without containers - that has been a fact since 1956, when the first transport and storage container saw the light of day. Thanks to their robust, versatile use, standard containers in particular have become indispensable and have long been popular far beyond the ports of the world, whether as a storage location, transport vehicle or basic building block for event spaces and private projects.

All lengths are available in standard height or as a high cube version. At 20', there is even the high as wide version, the so-called low cube container, which is 2.438 m high.

20' standard container: 6,058 mm length with an internal capacity of 31.0 - 37.4m3.
40' standard container: 12,192 m long with an internal capacity of 67.6 - 76.3m3.
45' standard container: 13,716 m with an internal capacity of 85.9 - 88.9m3.

Do refrigerated containers have to be permanently connected to the power supply?

Yes, refrigerated containers must be connected to a power source to maintain the cooling function. This can be done via a regular power supply if they are used stationary. During transportation, external generators, so-called gensets, can be used to ensure continuous cooling or when no direct power supply is available. These gensets are crucial to ensure that the cold chain is not interrupted for temperature-sensitive goods.

Does Unitainer also offer gensets for refrigerated containers?

What is the difference between a double door container and an open side container?

A double door container and an open side container differ mainly in the arrangement and functionality of their doors. Double door containers have doors on both ends and allow access from both ends of the container, making it easier to load and unload from both sides. Open side containers have one or more doors along one or both long sides and thus provide greater access to the inside of the container, which is particularly useful for bulky goods that do not fit through the end doors.
